Well, the first thing people need to remember, minor league hockey is still first and foremost a business. When operating costs increase, so do prices. Right now, the ECHL average operating cost is around $3 million. The SPHL is around $1.2 million. At that time, the ECHL was expanding more and more towards the midwest and west, so travel costs were increasing exponentially. You cannot travel from Roanoke, VA to somewhere like California by bus, unless you had no games in between. It's difficult at times to figure a solid median for ticket pricing, as there are multiple variables at work. It could be issues to determine whether to lower prices during weekday games where attendance is the lowest, including over holidays and when other sporting events are in direct competition to hockey season. Once attendance starts to see a substantial decrease from prior years, then ticket prices are usually increased to offset as much of the lost revenue as possible.

Hate to see Howell get the suspension, but I love to see them gel as a team. You win, lose, laugh, cry as a team. That’s when you get better as a team not a bunch of individuals.
