Yeah, pretty quiet in here, they're so really, really hard-core fans at the games, not sure if they know about the forums, though (runs to go tell 'em).

NHL game doesnt have SPHL logos....I just go to "Create A Player" and create all players.....then I get the guys from FAY and select a team to put them on....I'm using new Las Vegas team this year. Then I leave all other created players in FA pool and start my franchise.....let the cpu select their own players. I have Bulls, Bolts, and Marksmen done so far.

Well, i enjoyed myself. There is some work to be done on the arena for sure, but they'll get there. There were seats that hadn't been installed and some folks were concerned about that.

I think the bulls people were able to get them situated. It was a great crowd. Filled the place up for the most part. I think the attendance was 3600 or so. I'm not really worried about a

loss at this point in the season. This is an expansion team that is having to make adjustments the others are not. I think they are very close to being competitive in this league. When

they get some time playing together, and get lines adjusted, they'll be fine.

Love this story. Quite touching indeed. However, when I read this phrase " Mike Murray still feels the impact" I thought about a recent tree.

Nice find, Kenny - thanks.

So what's up with the RYD red helmets & gloves this season?  Wrong order shipped, or a hint of uniform changes in the future?

With Bloomington having moved on to Tier 1 Juniors hockey, I needed to add another SPHL arena to my visit list & photo collection.  So here 'tis ...
Von Braun Center-Propst Arena (Huntsville Havoc)

That's a very impressive & fan-friendly facility y'all have down there in Havoc Land.  Cherish it.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask  We are a player development league for the ECHL. That also includes referees.

I spoke to one of the owners the other day. Hockey is here to stay for a while. The owners have put a lot into the team. The players have a new break room and all new hockey gear. Looking forward to seeing the new zamboni tonight.

"Hometown boy does good ..."

Per the Peoria Journal Star ...

Will this be the new "hone opener" date for the Bulls?

Good points, Greg.  Of course, hindsight is always 20-20.  I'm sure Sam didn't expect the Game Misconduct on Kravchuk, which changed things.

Any idea what he did to get that? The Box Score shows "Fighting (Aggressor) (Game Misconduct)" but I'm not sure what that means in English.  TIA

I didn't have the heart to suggest we'd moved into second mostly because we've played an extra game . Glad the local news is ready to back it though.

In all honesty, the team has gotten incredible involvement with/from the local news channels and paper heading into the season.

Ditto everything you said!

Thanks for posting, Rh, good stuff.

If Brian Gardner keeps up these blog posts, please post & link them in this thread for a running tab as the RYD season rolls on.

Just came from the rink and talked to the Havoc staff. Teams are allowed 19 players on contract (in addition to any on IR), but only 18 are allowed to dress and be on the bench. Doc

Very nice story, always glad to hear what goes on behind the scenes.  Happy to see The Roanoke Times pick up an article like this one.  Can't wait until Friday!!!!!!!

Why do most of the people in the picture have Blackhawks logos where The Wheel should be?

Good luck Tommy!

I am intrigued. There are so many factors that could influence a 1 seeds decision. Say the six seed is the 1 seeds top rival, or the 5 seed has no home ice available, or maybe the 8 seed has had the 1 seeds number all season or travel costs could play into it.

I mean being top seed is supposed to give you an advantage in the playoffs so why not give them the choice of who they play instead of just assuming that being paired against the bottom is the best advantage for them.

I will not be able to make it sadly, but will be there for the exhibition game and first game

About time for him to enjoy the family life.

Rule changes:

78.5 Disallowed Goals – Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons:

(i) When the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick. When this occurs, if it is deemed to be done deliberately, then the decision shall be NO GOAL. A goal cannot be scored when the puck has been deliberately batted with any part of the attacking player’s body into the net.

79.2  Defending Zone - Play will not be stopped for any hand pass by players in their own defending zone. The location of the puck when contacted by either the player making the hand pass or the player receiving the hand pass shall determine the zone it is in.

85.5  Face-Off Location - Notwithstanding this rule, should an attacking player cause the puck to go out of play or become unplayable in the attacking zone, the face-off shall take place at a neutral zone face-off spot or at a face-off spot in the zone from which the puck left the ice, whichever is less advantageous to the attacking team.

When the attacking team shoots the puck towards the opponent’s goal from inside the attacking zone and it hits the goal post or crossbar and goes out of play, the ensuing face-off shall take place at one of the end zone face-off spots in the attacking zone. When the same happens but the puck is shot towards the opponent’s goal from any other zone, the face-off shall take place at the nearest face-off spot in the zone from where the puck was shot. If, however, the attacking team shoots the puck into the zone and a delayed off-side is indicated, or if the attacking team contacts the puck with a high-stick or bats the puck with a glove and it then deflects off the goal post or crossbar and goes out of play, the ensuing face-off shall be in the neutral zone outside the offending team’s attacking zone.

87.1 Time-out - Each team shall be permitted to take one (1) thirty-second time- out during the course of any game, regular season or playoffs. All players in- cluding goalkeepers on the ice at the time of the time-out will be allowed to go to their respective benches.

No time-out shall be granted to the defensive team following an icing.

80.4, 81.4 & 81.5 are also supposed to have changes, but none were indicated (except 80.4 is missing).
