  1. But it was the Marksmen who followed it up with back to back games of playing the 'Five Finger Knuckle Shuffle!'
  2. But in another thread, MarksmenOwner (if that's who it really is), said he's happy with where we're at. If having the #15 and 16 goalies in a 10 team league makes you happy then something is seriously wrong. We have all seen enough hockey to know that's not even close to being good enough to take us far into the promised land of seeing playoff hockey in mid to late April.
  3. Back in the day when we played the same team on back to back games at home, if we were down by 3 more or late in the game, you sent a message to the other team in the form of some great hits, a fight or two fights or more. It's called setting the tone for the next game!!!!!! It also helps the fans forget about the score and makes for an exciting atmosphere too!!!
  4. We don't need a team of goons and/or goons but we definitely need physical hockey with some good checking. As for the attendance, look no further than military appreciation night. The announced crowd was about 3,300. How in the heck can you only draw 3,300 in a town with a military population of 50,000 and that doesn't include the retirees and dependents??? Will attendance get better. I sure hope so but the trending direction isn't very positive. I love hockey and want it to succeed in Fayetteville but the numbers are troubling.
  5. Attendance is down almost 900 fans a a game through the first 6 games as compared through the first 6 games last season. The numbers don't lie and should be cause for concern.
  6. Where's MarksmenArtist? He or she used to be rah-rah-rah, never speak negative about the Marksmen. Maybe he or she can re-appear and enlighten us by putting a positive spin on the awful attendance numbers.
  7. We heard the same thing last season with having a young team and a new head coach in his first season as a head coach. Here we are in the same situation with nearly identical results. Once you fall behind in the SPHL, it's hard to catch back up. Maybe if Kallechy does get suspended for tomorrow night's game, it could be a blessing in disguise because he can watch the game from the stands while Worrell is coaching and see stuff he otherwise wouldn't have from behind the bench.
  8. Last yr through six games we were 2-3-1, 20 goals for and 29 goals against This yr through six games we are 2-4-0, 18 goals for and 22 goals against With the next two games against Peoria, it's not looking like a very promising start to the season but we'll hear how we have a young squad with a new coach, to be patient, etc.
  9. We absolutely need toughness. I'm not advocating going out and signing a one dimensional player who gets 2-3 shifts a game but rather someone who can score but definitely throw down when needed. You don't need 8-9 fights a game but a scrap or two and some good ole checks are what ignites crowds.
  10. The last time a Fayetteville native was hired, it didn't turn out so good. There was someone local who was the Assistant GM of the FireAntz and it didn't turn out so good. Hopefully this one turns out a lot better.
  11. Most equipment managers at this level don't usually stick with one team for longer than a year or two at most except in isolated instances. Fayetteville has gone through at least 5 equipment managers in the past 6 seasons. It's not an issue. The turnover for equipment managers and athletic trainers is traditionally high.
  12. Whatever happened to the last booster club? Why can't you just join the new booster club instead of applying to join? Something just doesn't add up.
  13. I saw that pic on the Marksmen Facebook page today. I thought feeding the players during training camp was one of the many things the Booster Club does to take care of the players. I've never seen a team openly advertise to help feed a team during training camp.
  14. Yeah! I'm a one dimensional fan. You don't know me so you really have no idea what you are talking about. As for fan favorites putting butts in the seats more than wins and losses, keep on thinking that.
  15. Maybe if I didn't work nights then I could be able to attend more games but $$$ helps pay my rent. I'd love to attend more games but when I'm an equal distance between PNC Arena and the Crown Coliseum, I split the amount of games between the two teams. Thanks for your great insight and enlightening me with your wisdom.
  16. Hopefully this guy lasts longer than a month.
  17. So we can sign players that are more than one dimensional and contribute more than 5-6 shifts per game. it's about wins and losses, not appeasing player's fan clubs.
  18. Arena football is about as stable as the FHL.
  19. There's only really three teams and it'll come down to the Marksmen and Swampdogs.. I really don't think the Cape Fear Heroess, indoor footnall, really have much of a chance when up against the hockey and baseball teams. I think the voting could be close but my guess is the Marksmen finish in 1st place for Fayetteville's top sports team. As for top venue, I'd say it would go to Fayetteville Motor Speedway!!!!!
  20. I can't speak on behalf of everyone else but I don't think Bes should be welcomed back here. He left here to be closer to his wife and kid but now that he was fired (mutally parting ways is another way of saying fired), he is rumored to be coming back here. While I can respect him wanting to get a job to be closer to his family, the only reason he would come back here is because nothing else is available for a hockey coach that can't win in the playoffs. The decision on who to hire as the next head coach is up to Chuck Norris. I hope he doesn't go with Bes but if he decides to bring him back, there will be a lot of pissed off people. There are so many other better choices out there than Bes. Also, it would be interesting to hear the real reason that him and Pensacola's owner, Greg Harris, decided to 'mutually' part ways. I'd bet it wasn't mutual and there's a lot not being said. Bes opts not to return to coach Marksmen
  21. Since we don't have a coach or director of hockey operations, who came up with the list?
  22. Why is Drobot going to be protected? It's not like any other team is going to pick him up.
  23. It isn't too bad on travel since when most teams travel that far, they tend to play 3-4 games in that area. So yes it's a 16 hr bus ride but if we can get 3-4 games in between the three 'midwest' cities on one trip, then it's not as bad.
