  1. I read Bus League Hockey to see what stories come out of them and some are pretty good sources and some make me wonder abut things in the SPHL and FHL and is the SPHL getting into a bidding war with the FHL for cities, just wondering what you all have heard on these stories. I have some pretty close ties to the Birmingham Bulls and they never mentioned any of this. https://busleaguehockey.com/2018/06/06/report-the-fhl-nearly-beat-the-sphl-to-birmingham-alabama-last-season/ https://busleaguehockey.com/2018/06/06/sources-fhl-focus-full-tilt-shifting-south/
  2. I don't know about a non profit running a sport team, but I do think that the name change had a lot to do with the team demise. No sity identity and to this day I still call them the Memphis Riverkings as that is who they have always been and will be in my opinion.
  3. What the word on street is NBA G League schedule
  4. I have a feeling that we are going to see Quad City in the SPHL, due to fact that Evansville and Peoria need a closer team to play to help with travel cost. I may be wrong on this but I have that feeling as it will happen from who I have chatted with over the past week.
  5. So now we know the real reason for the departure of the Columbus Cottonmouths!!
  6. https://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/weekly-sports-league-and-franchise-report/n-5329344 Scroll down under hockey.
  7. I like for the early rounds to be best of three and finals best of five, and all the arenas be given the dates that the playoff will run and only schedule events that will not require the ice to be taken down until they are eliminated from the playoffs. I know it's a dream but sensible solution IMO

  9. Ok, me and a few friends made our first trip to Birmingham and I don't think it will be our last. First of all the place holds 4,100 by the SPHL Media Guide and the announced attendance was 4,092 and I would say that was close to being accurate. Seats are all chair back and I will say to do what they did in the short amount of time I they had is pretty remarkable. I want to Alabama Slammers game years back and it was no way as nice at this is. Fans of Bull are passionate just like Havoc fans and there was plenty of back and forth between the fans during the game which make great atmosphere Action up close and right on top it in the arena and really there is not a bad seat in house. I will say this, if they continue to use this building it will be an intimidating place to play in the future, if Birmingham can average 4,000 a night and have a competitive team this will be a place that teams will not like to go to. Just like to thank all the fans of Bulls that we were around and met some great people and a had a great time. If you have not been I suggest going next year and take in a game
  10. I was in Birmingham last night and I heard the same thing, some people that have interest in Birmingham also looking at Columbus franchise as well as Quad City.

  15. Ok we had the Bulls in town this weekend and from the talk around the fans that were here, the QDC group has something to do with the Birmingham ownership group as one of the owners had tams in the area before with arena football. I would say that would be Art Clarkson as he owned the Huntsville AF2 team and then went to Green Bay and Rockford IL with arena football, has only only can think of that would have ties to that part of country in Birmingham. Huntsville people are quite on information as to other teams coming in all the front office can say is May 15th is deadline, so I do think something is up with another teams coming in I just can't put finger on who yet.
  16. According to my sources in the Birmingham Bulls area there is already a group exploring the option of putting a team in the Quad Cites for the SPHL.
  17. "But QDC support of junior hockey remains an unknown factor." That is the key quote to this post and I do not see them doing that. Have friends up there that go to games and they said they will not support junior team but would and SPHL team. Peoria is like an hour and 15 minutes away
  18. From my understanding when the league started out 14 years ago the break even point on most teams depending on like you say arena terms was 2500. Now 14 years later I do not know as we all know prices increase year to year on many things, but I would be surprised it if is not much more than 2500 paid to break even.
  19. ESPN did not want the USA to win does not fit their narrative
  20. From what I understand talk among the league that it trying to build more teams to go with Peoria and Evansville, so Quad City maybe in mix!
  21. I know we now have this talk of the Winston Salem team back in the SPHL, but I was at the Birmingham/Havoc game Sunday and there was talk from some serious Birmingham people that I do know that some of the ECHL teams that are in transition year with the league are looking at making the jump to the SPHL, especially some of the low attendance teams. Has anybody hear that talk? I have not around the Huntsville area.
  22. i would say maybe one of the best games the team has played all year from drop of the puck till end of the game, and I know it had to be DeLavergne best game in goal.
  23. I think we seen last night why Pensacola is one of the top teams in the SPHL. They outplayed, outmatched, quick and very physical that is here Huntsville is missing out. I think the players we have are capable of playing with them as they have this year but that game last night was just a Pensacola domination. Huntsville has to step it up when they play Peoria and Pensacola both very strong teams in the SPHL.
  24. I agree somebody needs to maybe send the article to the NFL!!
