  17. By William Douglas @WDouglasNHL / NHL.com Staff Writer Leo Thomas said he was surprised to learn that he was the first Black coach in the Southern Professional Hockey League when Macon hired him May 23, 2018. He was more surprised to discover that he wasn’t the first Black coach to lead a team from that city, known more for giving the world Little Richard, Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers Band than being an incubator for hockey coaches of color. https://www.nhl.com/news/macon-popular-hub-for-developing-black-hockey-coaches/c-321685772?tid=304325462 View the full article

  21. One night after a lackluster performance at home against the Knoxville Ice Bears, the Birmingham Bulls went into Pensacola looking for a win. It came down to the wire, but the Bulls persevered and left Pensacola winners after a 4-3 victory on Saturday night. Both teams came into the night off tough losses the night before as the Pensacola Ice Flyers would get shut out 2-0 against Macon and Birmingham fell 5-1 to the Ice Bears. This matchup would be the fifth of the year between the two teams with the Ice Flyers leading the season series 3-2. https://www.fieldpassbrand.com/post/bulls-take-do
  22. MACON, GA – After a sweeping three-game road trip down by the Pensacola Bay, the Macon Mayhem would return home to take on familiar border foe, Knoxville. With strong wins in their last three contests against the Ice Bears, and a chance to take possession of first place in the Southern Professional Hockey League, the Mayhem came in with plenty to play for. That motivation to play was certainly evident in the first 20 minutes, as the Mayhem put on a shooting clinic against SPHL journeyman goaltender Peter Di Salvo. https://www.maconmayhem.com/2021/02/21/baptistas-ot-game-winner-sends-mayhem-i
