  1. Did we have a 5 on 3 for 2 solid minutes and did not score, does anybody know. Glad to see the guys have some fight in them, they have been taking a little too much abuse lately in my opinion, with Perry being called up and a rookie in the net, yes we are in trouble, hope it is only for 1 game, got to give Kelly credit, he can throw em. This will help the Marksmen be a little tougher in the end and ready for anything in the playoffs. wow
  2. Coach really sees a problem with these home games, normally the home team in minor league hockey definately has the advantage, with us this is not the case and yes it is rare for teams to have a better away record than on home ice. I have watched several road games and the Marksmen really looked good, then we go to a home game and it looks disorganized like a preseason game. Watching the 4 - 3 game Sunday was the equivalent of watching paint dry. Pensacola goals on Sunday were the direct result of a forward cycling in our zone for what seemed forever only to encounter a half-hearted stick check, the forward knows exactly were he is going so what Pensacola did to us was to knock us off the puck with a simple body check and it worked, game after game we do not do this, when the stick check doesn't work rather than knocking the man off the puck enables the forward to continue to cycle throw the puck into the middle where it is blasted into the net, we have seen this time and time again.
  3. 4 OT games against Pensy, we lost all four, frustrating game tonight, seemed like we were disorganized all over the ice, dump and chase with no apparent organization, Pensy goalie did a good job but he was not challenged at all, felt bad for Perry, he played a very good game making some really difficult stops. We need to shoot the puck more that's for sure forget the fancy stuff and blast the puck on net, we are getting outshot, someone ought to notice that. Also we don't win shootout games and that is frustrating. But back at it tomorrow, maybe we can avoid another ot loss, I hope so. We need to win these home games it seems every time we have a decent crowd, we fall flat on our face. The best games we have played this year is when the crowd is at about the 1000 level. Lets go Marksmen.
  4. This was ugly guys, we were out skated, out hustled and out hit from the opening bell. Goalies were horrible as well. We seem to play better on the road than we do at home. That is really hard to figure out why, but we can't string together consistent play and wins at home. Also a Marksmen player took a sucker punch from Ortize with little retaliation, I was disappointed to see that. But it was only 1 game and I believe we will bounce back. Look for a lot of physical shenanigans when Quad Citty comes to town. I still wish we had a player or two who are willing to throw down when some of the cheap shots occur.
  5. Good win especially since we were shorthanded, let's do it again at the Crown
  6. Where was the new defenseman, did not see him in the lineup
  7. Sounds like a little ruff and tumble tonight, tomorrow should be a good one, way to go guys
  8. Played great defense last night, man I wish more folks would come out to the gamed
  9. I heard Pavlas was absolutely horrible in practice, thats why they did not stay with him.
  10. Good promo, let's give these guys some support
  11. Happy to see this also hope attendance picks up in the second half, great turnaround
  12. Vette for the past 5 seasons I sent emails to the front office and talked to team personnel to call in scores to tv outlets that cover our region and beyond, WECT, WWAY, WILM, Wilmington, WRAL and a few more, I never got a reply back, they do this for minor league baseball as well as other sports.
  13. Hockey is a contact sport, most fans are not attending to see blood baths, head shots or injuries, they are there to see at least some body checks and players bumping or knocking the opposition off the puck, in other words some good clean contact, if they do not see that they might as well went to a Flag Football Game. Someone on the forums mentioned the FHL possibly being a little rougher with more fights, well check out these average attendance figures for 4 of their teams. Mentor 411, Danville 883, Port Huron 841, Watertown 1014, not actually packing in the fans I guess.
  14. Happy to see the comments and yes we are a much better team when we are physical. I said all along that utilizing a stick check rather than body checking opposing forwards is not effective, it only permits the forwards to free skate in our zone. It is hard to watch a team blow leads in games and I am happy that problems are recognized and corrected. I may complain from time to time but always supported hockey in Fayetteville and win or lose I always will, see you at the Crown
  15. Would have liked to keep him, however he did not show much in his short time here, problem still exists with very little checking by the Marksmen, seems like they prefer stick checking to even bumping or knocking someone off the puck, I believe this team would be a lot better being more physical, stick checks in the corners results in the opposing players still able to get away and continue to free skate in our zone we saw a lot of that in our recent win. Stay out of the penalty box, but knock someone off the puck with a good hard clean check, PLEASE
