  1. Happy Birthday Bullrider!

  2. Bill did a great story and Greg made some good points, but no one mentioned that the company that "manages" the Bay Center does a piss poor job and cares nothing about the fans. You know, the one's that dish out time and money 26 nights a year for hockey? The 26 nights the building would be dark. I've heard the talk of "we'd have something else in there if it wasn't for hockey" but that's never materialized. Never will. They'd rather not have anything there than to have to work a night shift. The wife and I are seriously reconsidering buying season seats next year and we've been sitting in the same seats for years. Just isn't worth the hassle anymore...

  4. No, it appears the station was sold and the new owners wanted a format change. Having been in and out of broadcasting for many (some would say too many) years, this is rather common in that business. Hate to see it go, but maybe something else will pop up. Even when we were at the Bay Center we listened to Paul's post-game when they weren't covering the ESPN schedule or HS football...
  5. Just a quick glance at the lists I could find most teams protected at least one goalie. I'm sure Rod and Greg have their reasons, but it seems unusual. Edit...went to the team sites and Knoxville and us were the only ones I could see with no goalies protected...
  6. The Fayetteville Marksmen have sent Joe Kalisz to the Pensacola Ice Flyers to complete the future considerations of the December 5, 2016 trade that brought Kyle Shapiro to the Marksmen. The 2016-17 season was Kalisz’s first in the professional ranks, after a three-year career at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The 25-year-old’s rookie campaign saw him compete in 48 games, while adding 18 goals among 35 points, with a plus-12 +/- rating.
  7. Lots of people in Fayetteville DON'T! Being from there let's me talk to my old hockey buds and while their feeling pretty good about the new ownership, this caught them by suprise and they ain't happy...
  8. Anyone hear what kind of injury Corey suffered? I know the league will just say "lower body", but that really tells nothing.
  9. 2/18/17 Del Belisle, Louis Loaned to Florida (ECHL) Add Clarke, Brent, Signed Contract
  10. Anyone know why Bones is the EBUG?
  11. C-/D from my perspective. While there have been whole periods where they look like they've got it together, there hasn't been a whole game yet. Defense jumping into the plays too early leading to opposing rushes, chasing the puck instead of position play, little things like that have got to be driving Kevin nuts. I think he's done a good job so far, we'll see what the second half holds. Not going to touch on the player moves, but one other thing...we seem a lot younger than the past couple of years. Good for the players as they get the experience to move up, but not have some veteran stability in the room has got to make a difference. Just my humble opinion, of course.
  12. 1/16/17 D, Brandon Fehd, released D, Stephen Gallo, signed contract
  13. Yeah, JMC, that's been a notion for the Center for a long time, attract basketball and volleyball tourneys at the college and high school level to keep the building occupied. However, these season mostly coinside with hockey. They hope to fill the building with other "convention" stuff during the rest of the year. That they can't do that now doesn't seem to be slowing them down. And Will, you've hit the nail on the head with the length of the project. The shortest I've heard is 2 years. That would mean the end of the Flyers as I can't see any owner sitting on a team and paying the league to NOT play. And no, there's not another sheet anywhere in Pensacola, just look at the number of articles over the past couple of years about how long breaks affected the players prep for upcoming games. And even as a season ticket holder there's no way I'm paying those prices for the "opportunity" to drive to Mobile to support "Pensacola's" team. This will end bad for all involved, not the least those of us that have supported hockey in Pensacola for 20+ years...
  14. 1/11/17 DEL Moore, Evan (D) placed on season ending IR
  15. Glad to hear John's OK. Happened just below us and you could hear the smack. And a shot to the throat is nothing to mess with...been there, done that.
