  1. Some of my observations from watching the game last night--- 1. It was clear Craigen's message to the team was 'shoot the puck!.' Knoxville got some good shots off early and worked hard to win the puck. Energy was good to start but noticeably began to fade by the end of the 1st. Peoria's quick answer to Knoxville's goal really seemed to deflate the team's confidence. 2. Peoria's defensive strategy seemed to be clogging the middle and forcing Knoxville's wingers towards the boards and corners then relying on poor passes and puck movement to win back possession. It worked. There was little to no creativity or chemistry on offense for Knoxville. Often times I saw a single attacker enter the Peoria zone without support. Cesarz got off several shots but most were from an easy angle for Phaneuf to cover. No real offensive threat or net presence for Knoxville. 3. I thought Dodds did about as well as expected given the defense (or lack thereof) in front of him. Dodds made the saves he needed to but didn't get the help he needed. You can't expect a rookie goalie to keep out 48 shots. 4. With the win Peoria moves to 25-0-1 on the season when leading after the 2nd Period. Knoxville has to find a way to steal an early lead or at least keep it close through two periods. Knoxville has put themselves into a hole against a strong Peoria team. They're going to have to play some of their best hockey if they are to advance past this series. Hopefully the crowd can give this team the spark that it needs to jump out to an early lead. Excited to see how this team responds in Game 2.
  2. Overtime – Playoffs – In the President Cup Playoffs, when a game is tied after three (3), twenty (20) minute regular periods of play, the teams shall take a fifteen (15) minute intermission and resume playing twenty (20) minute periods. Teams shall start overtime in the opposite end they started the game and will change ends to start each subsequent overtime period. The team scoring the first goal in overtime shall be declared the winner of the game
  3. On Facebook, one of the Knoxville Ice Bears fan pages is not allowing anyone to post a link due to "respecting the privacy" of the player and his family. People who attempt to provide a link (factual information in the public domain) have been accused of not supporting the team and, at least one person, booted from the group. I can only imagine some of the emails the News Sentinel might be getting
  4. I imagine the terms of the venue lease would be very important in assessing the potential value (as well as the condition of the venue to some extent). It would be interesting to see a balance sheet.
  5. Yes, looking for a Christmas gift for my son
  6. Any idea of what the average value of a SPHL franchise might be? Does the league make this figure public when a team is bought or sold?
