  1. This is the Junior Hockey team from Kearney, NE, where I grew up. They do alright, but hopefully the boys from Moline will put on a better show.
  2. Good point, I didn't think about doing an extended road trip around the area, I guess we'll wait and see when the schedule is released.
  3. Thanks for the info, I guess I didn't realize there was a hole there. I used to live in Nebraska and Kansas and remember a lot of hockey choices, but I guess those are mostly college and Junior league teams.
  4. I'm posting here because I'm in Fayetteville and care what Marksmen fans think. A new SPHL team was announced, in (looks like the LA Ice Gators are moving to) Quad Cities, IA/IL. I know professional sports generally have a hard time matching there name to their actual geographical location, but come on, SOUTHERN Professional Hockey League? Evansville and Peoria were already a bit of a stretch, TaxSlayer Stadium in Moline, IL is 2 hours past Peoria, that means 16+ hours on a bus for the Marksmen. Is the Midwest really that short on hockey leagues?
  5. I got caught up again wasting time on LinkedIn, and found this: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brad-drobot-b23b5947/ Our favorite Goon, Brad Drobot, was an Engineering major at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Discuss. . . Oh, and I found this, for the ladies: http://theweal.com/2014/04/10/hockey-player-retires-after-four-year-career-as-trojan/ He's a bit of a Mama's boy, and OH MY GOD, THAT HAIR! Brad, BRING BACK THAT HAIR!
  6. I got curious and checked in with the Google to see what Mazzolini has been up to since. . . well. . . you know. Looks like he returned to home-town Anchorage and is working for an alcoholic beverage distributor. https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-mazzolini-b933a541/ Any predictions what Esposito will be doing next November?
  7. For some reason your post made me curious about what Mazz is up to post-Marksmen. Looks like he's back in home-town Anchorage working for an alcolholic beverage distributor. There's certainly worse things to do with your life. https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-mazzolini-b933a541/
  8. http://thesphl.wttstats.pointstreak.com/standings.html?leagueid=215 Just saw this - Birmingham lost to Roanoke Sat night, but they made it to OT. So that extra point put them ahead of the Marksmen. Welcome to the bottom of the league, boys.
  9. You are correct - media time-outs are designated by the league at the 5, 10 and 15 minute marks. The time-out is called on the first whistle after the clock hits that mark, and sometimes a few seconds before if it's close. The only exception is if the whistle is for a goal. Inevitably whichever team draws the icing call gets the benefit and the other team complains.

  11. Any idea what happened to Huntsville's goalie? I didn't see any excessive hits or rocket shots that would cause a goalie to lose his lunch. I'm loving the new camera work and replays, by the way.
