  1. My understanding was that the City allowed them to bring all of the players inside.
  2. Mitch, you are right about Liberty. They play ACHA Division 1 (plus they have lower level teams). However, they compete for national championships at that level. Their facilities are as good or better than most NCAA Division 3 schools, and quite likely rival some NCAA Division 1 facilities. They take it seriously. Also, this guy was dominant at that level. That level produces good talent, too. With the small number of NCAA Division 1 schools playing hockey, talent trickles down much more easily to the lower levels of college hockey. I'm telling you, this guy leaves a warm feeling i
  3. When I first heard this guy was signed, it felt like mostly a bunch of hot air. As time has quickly passed, it seems there may be more and more substance present with this guy than originally thought. I believe once everything turns loose for opening night, there will prove to be much more here than just hot air. His signing is likely to be a huge surprise and leave a mark for the entire season.
  4. Sure appreciate the acknowledgement. Hope all is well with you and yours.
  5. They haven't even figured out how many people can go and who those people are.
  6. I don't see how he gets leverage in this situation to overcome her decision. She seems oblivious to the ridiculousness of this decision, so humiliating her seems impossible.
  7. Too many good players available to waste a vet spot on Price. There are going to be ECHL cuts filter down in large numbers. They are going to have access to AHL players unsure of their situation because of the AHL February start. Also, would an AHL free agent play in the SPHL to get ready for February?
  8. I don't think they'd sign him to just cut him. He's at a point, I think, they either bring him in or don't. That's my worry anyway. He has great instinct still, but his footspeed means he has to guess right early or likely get beat easily. I hate to have to watch him again. Never liked him.
  9. In case you're wondering: SPHL Vet Rules. He was washed up last year. I can't imagine him a year later on Covid legs. Is this just the Ice Bears trying to be fair to the rest of the league and give them a chance?
  10. So is inside farther apart better than outside closer together?
  11. Yep, it's coming. Some ticket holders are in for a big surprise.
  12. Mayhem, I wasn't trying to turn it political either, but at least half of this nation is not going to continue having what it loves taken away. It doesn't matter if it's hockey, church, dinner with friends, movies, or family reunions.
  13. Minor league hockey is the least of our worries if national shutdowns are instituted. That's the beginning of a serious split in our country that will be something we've not seen in a long time. That would solidify the divide in ideology in our country.
  14. I think the opposite for minor league sports. The highest levels of professional sports have been busy chasing away many of their customers for various reasons. Minor league sports can adapt and step in to pick up those fans' dollars or react poorly and let those dollars go to other entertainment avenues.
  15. It won't just be the teams sitting out. I've already heard rumor about ticket "issues" with teams remaining. Some fans are in for a real shock, I think.
  16. Once a man discovers vuvuzelas, it's never quite the same.
  17. I thought the same thing, Mac. They acted like it was going to magically disappear. I assumed it would first be looked at being re-opened as an event venue. I would think converting it to Big Lots is lower on the list.
  18. So, I'll assume that means there's more to it than a simple ECHL assistant coach position (or location is really important to it). Or, the SPHL is ceasing to play hockey? Do you have a giant scoop?
  19. 1. That's curious, but I suspect they need any cash they can get. 2. Not good. Too many markets in areas with questionable ability to return. 3. Probably not. 4. Hard to say no, but the pendulum seems to be swinging that direction for the first time.
  20. I'm not sure becoming an ECHL assistant coach is really a positive move. Clearly, he believes it is; or there is more to the opportunity. I just can't see that being a surefire positive move. He was really doing a fine job for you all, though. I hate that you have to start testing unproven coaches again (though discovering Kallechy's talent was a good find).
  21. Looks like some SPHL level players are signing in the Fed. Is that an indication that the SPHL season may be delayed or in limbo compared to the Fed?
