Ice Flyers turn $5 weekend into near $1 million economic impact

Looking out across a packed arena those $5 ticket nights, Pensacola Ice Flyers owner Greg Harris always wondered about the economic impact.

This year, he got the answer. It was nearly $1 million.

A study by Victus Advisors from Park City, Utah found the two games March 3-4 at the Pensacola Bay Center, where the Ice Flyers sold tickets for $5 apiece, generated a total economic impact of $963,944.


In another matter, Harris said he is waiting to get a decision from Rod Aldoff on his status for next season.

Aldoff returned to the Ice Flyers in February as head coach, replacing Kevin Hasselberg, who was fired after less than a season. Aldoff, who began his year as head coach of the ECHL Norfolk Admirals, was fired there after 17 games by the club's new ownership.
