Shane is not only a good offensive weapon but a good scraper also. Watched a video of him taking on a bigger player and took care of business.

You do realize these two are NHL players? Sam Bennett and not Shane Bennett, yes??

2 #1 goalies in Bonar and DiSalvo- bet there's future movement in the works.

MRK had 2 #1 goalies in Di Salvo and Barone......I dont think we will move Bonar....more of a possibility that he goes to ECHL and doesnt return.

You saw that Strukoff and Rivait were in trade too, right?

I have to agree with the echl possibility.  Seeing this trade made makes you believe they think Bonar is not going to be around and now have Di Salvo as a back up plan.  But as well as Bonar played last season he deserves a shot on an echl team.

BRILLIANT TRADES!!!! Giving up rights to two players that have season long commitments in Europe and a mediocre goalie for a better goalie & BIG veteran defenseman that we desperately need! Mississippi has always been a very boring team to watch IMO. Even if Rivait and Strukoff do return to the SPHL later in the season, we'll be fine. October can't get here fast enough!

I doubt that either will return during the season. Long way to travel and costly. We would lose the rights of both if they returned next season to the SPHL

From the Observer staff article on the trade:

Marksmen send three to RiverKings for Di Salvo, Sova

Quote

“As a team that lost a lot of experience and defensive depth, we felt we could get a deal done to replace that,” said Nick Mazzolini, the first-year coach of the Marksmen, a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League. “We feel Sova will help our younger D-squad and show them the ropes.”

“It was an opportunity to add an experienced defenseman that has a lot of experience at the higher levels,” added Ryan Cruthers, Fayetteville’s Director of Operations. “We didn’t have to give up a lot to get him in some guys that weren’t going to report to us.”

“We had to give up a good young goalie, in Tyler Green, but we wish him the best,” Mazzolini said. “We gained a very good goalie in Peter Di Salvo, he has ECHL experience and we feel he will be a big piece of the puzzle moving forward.”
