Former Player News : Tayler Thompson

Recommended Posts

Very good news for the Marksmen! Tayler decided to get back into hockey after leaving France. He was considering retirement. He's only 4hrs away if it doesn't work out in Norfolk:)

Gonna be following the Admirals' game tonight in Brampton online! Of course, I'll be WATCHING us in Pensacola. It sure would be nice to break their winning streak.

No Cousineau this weekend, should help......watchout for Hertz, he has been doing good in Pensy. Adding Kalisz should be a boost in offensive production.

He's still around- he can continue to coach practices and travel with the team, he can even be in the arena but he just can't be on the bench during the games.

He'll be coaching from the stands. He Bes not!

So far for Thompson at Norfolk, 2 games played, 5 penalty minutes, 1 shot on goal. Looking at the # of players no longer on the roster it seems Norfolk turns over their roster often. Thompson might be the type of

player that could turn the Marksmen season around.  As for the current players Hauswith and Cook are certainly doing their part.  Defenseman Taylor Love is -9 in +/- with only 1 assist.  I guess they something in the guy

the stats don't show.

Maybe it was his big hits (finishing his checks).....but I wasn't able to see the away games.....

Thompson would be a big add, no doubt, but according to pointstreak stats, we have given up the most goals 39 in 8 games in the entire league, so a few d men and a goalie just might be the solution to everything, the amount of goals we have scored is somewhere in the middle of the pack, but you won't win many games averaging almost 5 goals a game to any opponent.

And we don't expect Robo back anytime soon with his injury.

Definitely......his play will be missed. Since Lamacchia hasn't showed I'd be ok with trading his rights for a defensman.

Same with Brad Bourke who is playing in the Senoir Canadian league.

Norfolk just picked up 2 Forwards from Atlanta. Could that mean Tayler will be on the move?

According to transactions.....https://www.echl.com/echl-transactions-nov-14-2017

It looks like a 3-for-2 trade. Norfolk shipping 2 forwards for 2 forwards from Atl....and the rights to a 3rd forward.

Hopefully he'll be back in Fayetteville soon. We still need Defense.

"The best defense is a good offense" is an adage that has been applied to many fields of endeavor, including games and military combat. It is also known as the strategic offensive principle of war. Generally, the idea is that proactivity (a strong offensive action) instead of a passive attitude will preoccupy the opposition and ultimately hinder its ability to mount an opposing counterattack, leading to a strategic advantage.

Military[edit]

George Washington wrote in 1799: "…make them believe, that offensive operations, often times, is the surest, if not the only (in some cases) means of defence".[1]

Mao Zedong opined that "the only real defense is active defense", meaning defense for the purpose of counter-attacking and taking the offensive.[2] Often success rests on destroying the enemy's ability to attack. This principle is paralleled in the writings of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu.[3]
