Slashing penalties

It's not only in tonight's Havoc game (see below), but it seems to me that most of the penalties called in games so far have been for slashing. Have the refs been instructed to more strictly enforce this? Doc

And how many of the 32 PIMs earned so far by the NHL's most famous hatchet man, Sidney Crosby, have been from the renewed emphasis on slashing calls?  Just 4 minutes, according to HockeyReference.com records.  Cleaning up his act?  I doubt it.  Though he did seem to get the most out of cross-checking early on.
