Schumacher released by ECHL Indy.

Edit: Waiting for the official word he's returned to Evansville to update roster, but it would make sense. His addition puts the team back to 6 defensemen.

Schumacher did rejoin the team (and seemed to get about 50 minutes of playtime Friday).

Fazio released from tryout.

Lubin suspended 7 games for illegal hit on Friday. Suspension began Saturday and final suspended game will be 12/8.

Fiorentino released after 3 game tryout. Tommy has recorded 1 assist and 8 PIM in his two 3 game tryouts with the team this season.

Fazio signed to contract. Mike has 1 assist in his 2 games played during his previous tryout.

Thompson reactivated by Cyclones so he will likely not be back soon.

Leef released by Brampton today.

League goal leader, Justin Macdonald, called up to ECHL Adirondack.

Worth mentioning that Chase N continues to be used for defense, but (maybe) that will change with Lubin returning from suspension and Justin being called up?

Justin Macdonald, who's just one point out of the SPHL goal lead, was released yesterday by Adirondack. Maybe he's returning as a late Christmas gift for the Bolts?

Uh, little early for April Fools jokes, coach Pyle. I'm not sure what the worst defensive player in the SPHL is going to add that the team's only enforcer couldn't.

Maybe he wanted somebody that could take a few punches instead of throw them :2thumbsup:

I wonder if anyone's ever had a plus/minus worse than -29 in the SPHL

In other news, Nick Lazorko, who skipped the country when the Bolts picked him in the expansion draft last year has been signed. He was cut from Huntsville last month.

Might as well give up, Evansville Fans.  Once you go Bo Driscoll, it's over.

Cory Melkert called up to Wichita of the ECHL.

Congrats to Cory Melkert on the call up to Wichita. It is well deserved and we are excited to follow you in the ECHL https://t.co/6uL7VKhFyZ

Going to miss our team captain, but surely we can rely on Bo Driscoll to fill his skates. Not literally of course, Melkert is 6'4" 211lbs, and Bo is 4'11" 81lbs.

note: heights and weights are approximations.

In all honesty, he's a good guy.  He was on Knoxville's last championship team.  He fit on that team because Knoxville was loaded over most of the roster, and he they had no other defense options whatsoever at that point.  He played a very specific role and was sheltered.  He was cut the next year because he was not serving a niche any longer, and he was getting pushed around on a nightly basis.  Every team was taking advantage of his lack of size/strength.

Yeah, I'm playing up the dislike for the sake of entertainment. Your assessment is precisely how I would grade him. He simply doesn't have the speed or stick skills to offset his lack of size, and that makes him a liability.
