Ice Flyers' offense struggles for second time in home loss against Huntsville

The fast start has become a two-game slide with the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

After a back-and-forth first period, the Ice Flyers gave up a second period, go-ahead goal, then an empty netter in the final seconds as the visiting Huntsville Havoc skated away with a 4-2 win Saturday night at the Bay Center.

The Ice Flyers (7-2) loss, before a crowd of 3,744 spoiled a strong performance by newly acquired goaltender Kent Patterson. It followed a 4-1 loss Tuesday at Mississippi RiverKings.

Re-signed earlier this week, Patterson replaces Sean Bonar who rejoined the Atlanta Gladiators in the higher-level ECHL and posted another win Saturday night when Atlanta beat the Orlando Solar Bears.

Bonar signed a standard contract, which means he is likely with the team the rest of the season.
