This one has me a bit more worried.  Greenville already has two goalies.  They had to put Greg Dodds on reserve to sign Barone and have him in games this weekend.  So either Dodds is got a little injury, sickness, or Greenville is thinking about another option in goal.  Nothing is mentioned about Dodds that I can find.

From what i've heard that is the case. Dodds is apparently injured, but not enough to be put on IR. Barone is apparently insurance.

Brad Barone played Friday night against Florida, stopping 40 out of 43 shots, in a 3-2 overtime loss.

Sounds like he kept them in the game as Greenville only generated 15 shots of their own.

Thats what I was afraid of, they trying another option in goal.  Great job by Barone!!  Don't really matter who you put in net when you get 15 shots on goal.  They didn't even get a shot on goal in the 3rd period or OT.  Tough to win that way.

Great showing by Barone against the best team in the ECHL. If he continues to perform like this he might not be down in the SPHL at all next year.

Unfortunately, night #2 wasn't as good.  Barone gave up 6 goals on 43 shots as Greenville lost 6-2

That might be good for the Rail Yard Dawgs, haha!

I would have kept Cole over Gandara, but that is just me.

I would be on the fence.  Don't want to get rid of either one.  Definately wouldn't be in an uproar if it would have went that way.  Cole was good at creating breakaway chances and i think more physical then Gandara.  Plus he seemed like he was improving alot until being a healthy scratch.

Brad Barone played tonight fro Greenville - stopped 23 out of 27, but lost 4-3 in overtime.

Looks like they are looking at him hard.  Started him 3 games in a row against 2 of the best teams in the league.  Also, John Gustafsson's brother plays for South Carolina,  Hampus Gustafsson.

I also didn't notice until I just checked the ECHL standings that Greenville is on a streak of 0-10-3 in the last 13 games they played.  Barone got 2 of the OT losses against the top competition in the ECHL.  He might be in it for the long haul.

Looks like good news for the Dawgs!!!!

2018-03-08 Greenville Swamp Rabbits Brad Barone (G) DEL Released from SPC

I'm not sure what kind of situation Greenville was in.  They released the EBUG with Barone, so i'm guessing they didn't even have a regular goalie able to play.  This is definately good news for Dawgs fans.
