GDT 3/30 7:15PM - Knoxville Ice Bears @ Thunderbolts

Recommended Posts

Evansville has secured their spot in the playoffs, but the battle for position rages on. The Thunderbolts currently sit in sixth place with four games remaining. Mississippi is four points behind and Knoxville is four points ahead. A sweep of the Ice Bears this weekend would pull them even, and give the Bolts the advantage on the head-to-head matchup on the season.

Note: For all practical purposes the difference in position will not matter in the first round. The league is using a pick your opponent format. However, when the Bolts upset their first round opponent and head into the second round matchups will be decided by the rankings of remaining teams.

Tyler Deresky rejoins the team after more than 100 days in the ECHL. The rookie had a strong start to the season in his first 14 games getting 6 goals and 5 assists. Patrick Harrison was released to make room for him.

Evansville will look to see continued success from their top 3 point-getters (all tied at 50): Dylan Clarke, Dave Williams, and John Scorcia. DW had probably the best weekend with 1 goal, 2 assists, and a thorough beating of Tim Boyle. It's also the only time I can remember two guys throwing gloves-off punches for 15+ seconds, going down to the ice, and getting called for... roughing. The crew that night made quite a few unique calls though (such as the goalie deflecting a puck but still calling it icing).
