Ten straight goals.

The Peoria Rivermen roared into the SPHL President’s Cup Finals by completing a two-game sweep over the Knoxville Ice Bears on Friday in which they allowed the first goal of the series, then scored the last 10.

The Rivermen got a shutout from goaltender Tyler Parks and goals from Dave Pszenyczny, Ryan Siiro, Justin Greenberg and Keegan Bruce to beat the Ice Bears, 4-0, in Game 2 of the best-of-3 SPHL Semifinals before 2,812 at Knoxville Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tenn.

The No. 1-seeded Rivermen will face No. 2 seed Macon/No. 4 seed Huntsville in a best-of-3 championship series next week.

“We seem to find the right guys, hungry to win, love the game, want to be champions,” said Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel, by phone, while the team celebrated in its locker room in Tennessee. “All kudos to our players, they did all the work. But the toughest part is yet to come.” ...

“We played a great defensive game in that first period, then we got a couple goals in the second period and got off the gas,” Trudel said. “It was a 2-0 game, really, the whole way, closer than the final looks. Parks was phenomenal. He’s been our rock, our MVP for two rounds.” ...
