I wonder if they'll let roller derby stars play?

Don't underestimate the talent available for such a hockey league, Mac.  The National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) has four main divisions with lots of major U.S. university teams participating, a Jr. College division, and an Affiliate division.  There are several NCRHA teams in the Metro St. Louis area, most notably the Division I Lindenwood University Lions who have won the NCRHA championship 10 times since the League started in 1998.  My alma mater's team even notched a Division I championship by defeating Lindenwood in the 2009 Finals. [And, no, I was not invited to join their team as a mascot. <_< ]  In addition to college players, there are a significant number of present & recent past NHL-ers who grew up playing in-line hockey and probably an equivalent number currently in the North American minor pro ranks.

So the talent pool is out there.  Whether this NRHL organization can stand up & sustain a league, that's an entirely different challenge.

Roller Hockey International operated in the early 1990 and the level of play was half way decent. Maybe, AAA/AA minor league quality. It didn’t last too many seasons but I think was in part due expanding too aggressively. They went from 12 teams in season one to 24 coast to coast in season two. It was all down hill from there. Like any new league, if they would take it slower, establish a few stable ownerships, and allow interest grow, then maybe this new pro league will some staying power.

It had AA/AAA minor league players in it, playing in the ice hockey off-season. I'm excited to see this!
