Ice Bears Protected List

Recommended Posts

Interesting.  No Berkley Scott, Evan Neugold, Zoltan Hetenyi, or Jake Flegel.

Not on the list from the post-season roster:

Berkley Scott
Lawrence Cornellier
Evan Neugold
Sean Robertson
Kevin Swider
Austin Hervey
Zoltan Hetenyi

On the list, not on the post-season roster:

Tommy Kelley (spent 2nd 1/2 of last season in ECHL)

Cornellier, Robertson, and Hervey are big surprises off the list too.  Bombardier, Sargis, and Brucato are real stretches to need protecting.

Retiring or re-retiring, or playing overseas?

If there were no expansion draft, I'd say many of them were no risk to sign elsewhere.  The expansion draft adds an element of risk to that making me think they all plan to move on in some way or another.  It makes sense for most of them, but Cornellier is a bit puzzling.  He is not a great player, but he's a good utility player.  Unless he's just said he's not returning, he is better than at least 3 of the protected players.

Berkley Scott is retiring.  Ice Bears made a comment about it on Twitter.

Nice.  Saving him for the playoff run!

I think that curtain call is over for good.

Maybe now he'll get the city to officially name the street "Kevin Swider Way".

Can't now.  There's no U-turns on that road.
