Any Truth To These Articles?

Recommended Posts

I read Bus League Hockey to see what stories come out of them and some are pretty good sources and some make me wonder abut things in the SPHL and FHL and is the SPHL getting into a bidding war with the FHL for cities, just wondering what you all have heard on these stories.  I have some pretty close ties to the Birmingham Bulls and they never mentioned any of this.

From reading it, aside from Birmingham, my sense is they haven't gotten into a bidding war, but that the FHL is looking at cities that the SPHL wouldn't consider because some of them are really small cities that would never get enough fans for SPHL, or trying to fill a market that used to have SPHL. Because if it were an actual bidding war, the SPHL would win every time, and it wouldn't really be a war haha.

I know a few of the people involved in the Birmingham deal, that is in fact true. The Team GM was actually in the process of moving there during this time.

I believe there was an interview with a representative from the Pelham government who said something like they were talking to multiple professional leagues at the time and hadn't cemented anything. We all knew the Coast, the A, and the NHL weren't coming. Really only left two options: the obvious fit and the league for which Pelham was a pipe dream.
