New Quad Cities' hockey franchise hires head coach

KWQC - TV 6

Quote

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) The new Quad Cities' hockey franchise has a head coach.
The organization hired Dave Pszenyczny as its head coach and director of operations on Friday.
Pszenyczny is the reigning SPHL Defenseman of the Year for the Peoria Rivermen.
“John and I believe Dave will build a team that will be entertaining to watch,” Team Co-Owner, Ryan Mosley said in a press release. “He’s coming from a first-class organization in Peoria and we believe he will bring that experience with him."
“Throughout our interview process, we wanted a coach that believes in community involvement. Dave realizes the community is our fan base, and if we can’t get out and support our community, then why should they support us?” said Co-Owner John Dawson in the press release.

A single letter score for "Pszenyczny" would earn 38 points according to this on-line calculator; far more with double- or triple-word bonuses, not to mention the 50 point adder if you used all 7 of your tiles in this lucrative lay-down.  But bad news for hockey fans playing the board game: Restrictions against the use of proper nouns or names were not lifted back in 2010 as widely reported.  So the integrity of the classic word game and of now-Coach Pszenyczny must live on separately.

I would be no good getting it anyways.  Everytime I have to spell his name I have to look it up.  Not a very easy one to remember.  Something never looks right with it with one vowel and all those y's.

Two y's, 2 z's, 2 n's and you're almost there.  Imagine his poor wife & kids.  I guess that's why she simply calls him "David."

Too bad Scrabble only comes with one Z.

That's what the blank tiles are for ... once you scribble a Z and a subscript 10 on one of them.  Save the other blank & some black marker for QUINQUAGESIMAL.

You can't ever play that word because you can only play 7 tiles max at a time which means half of the word would already have to be on the board and there is no 7 letter word in there.

3 letter word zen.  If your lucky someone plays that word and you have the rest of the letters.  That's about the only 3 letter word I can find in it.  😨

It's the minor pro hockey version of the Habsburg dynasty.  Skip to the end to see how that power play worked out.  reading.gif

QC gets new hockey coach

By Bobby Metcalf - Dispatch-Argus

Quote

Dave Pszenyczny knows all about the legacy of Quad-Cities hockey.

He saw it first-hand as an opposing player, impressed by the atmosphere of the TaxSlayer Center in years past.

“It’s one of those buildings where you know it’s not going to be a blowout, you know it’s not going to be an easy game,” Pszenyczny said. “It’s going to be a tough, nose-to-the-grindstone type of game and there’s going to be some bumps and bruises. Those games were always fun to play in.”

Pszenyczny now gets a chance to continue that legacy, named as the first head coach and director of hockey operations of the new Quad-City franchise that joined the Southern Professional Hockey League last month.

The team will formally introduce Pszenyczny at a news conference at Harris Pizza in Bettendorf at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 21.

“Throughout our interview process, we wanted a coach that believes in community involvement,” team co-owner John Dawson said. “Dave realizes the community is our fan base, and if we can’t get out and support our community, then why should they support us?”

It’s the end of a 12-year playing career and hopefully the start of a long coaching career for the 33-year-old from Sterling Heights, Mich.
