Former New Hartford hockey standout Tom Fiorentino will make his return to Hobart College as an assistant coach.

Fiorentino will coach under his former head coach, Mark Taylor, for the 2018-19 season.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Fiorentino said. “It’s something that I was hoping would be possible. To be able to learn from a guy like Mark is something I’m really excited about.”

Fiorentino was a member of the Hobart men’s hockey team from 2010 to 2014. As a player, he collected three ECAC West All-Academic Team honors and received Hobart’s Holden Award for sportsmanship, character and leadership.

After his stint at Hobart, Fiorentino spent the next two years with Les Phenix de Reims of the first Division — the second professional hockey league in France. There he led his team in goals and was among the top-20 players in the league in points.

Fiorentino returned to the United States and played two seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League, where he was a member of the Evansville Thunderbolts, the Pensacola Ice Flyers and the Fayetteville Marksmen.
