Let's wait to see if they publish an alternate logo. Thanks for doing that. If you can make it smaller I'll make it an emoticon.

This could work. Right size?

Or.......

The person who was commissioned to create the logo gave permission to use it?

It was really nice of Getty Images to let them do that!

Interesting find. Hopefully it's not another Columbus Burn debacle...

My overall point is that, this late into the off-season, to prep for next season as quick as possible, they probably went with this setup to get off the ground and will work on logo improvements for next season.

Macguy: thanks, I will update forums

Yep, with a little more scrolling, they could've been "The Quad City Hippos" ...

Saw this new picture was shared on a QC FB page. The twitter page still has the tornado on it, but the team website has this logo without the tornado.

Interesting. The Twitter post put up yesterday hawking season tickets still has the tornado on it.

And the intro video posted a few weeks ago still has it.

Maybe a new secondary logo or third?

Oh good.  I'm glad to see they have hockey again.  And about the Storm logo.  For their banner they just had the cloud without the tornado in it at their tent last Friday when they were there for dek hockey and their name tags also just had the cloud.

Omitting the hockey stick-wielding tornado would make the uniform & the souvenir T-shirt chest logo much less busy, and easier to fit in the space while making the team name readable.  But the simplified version may also serve as a secondary shoulder logo, maybe with the stand-alone tornado on the opposite shoulder patch.  The possibilities are endless - as long as they abide by prevailing trademark restrictions.

... Or they could squish it to make it more uniformly sized:

The one-n-done St. Charles Chill of the Central Hockey League had a similar primary logo crisis-of-fashion, ironically using the exact same color scheme but a more exaggerated display of motion.  The original version wrapped under the players' arms on the game jersey, and the later reduced size chest logo looked like somebody didn't know how to check the box for "Lock aspect ratio."  Turns out branding is as much an art as it is a marketing tool - and it seems not many marketeers ever picked up a crayon to scribble as children.
