Quad City set to take the SPHL by Storm

There’s a new professional sports team in town as Quad City owners John Dawson and Ryan Mosley announced the team’s new name, logo and president and introduced the new coach at a press conference today at the TaxSlayer Center.

The new Quad City Storm will open their inaugural season on Saturday, October 20th at the TaxSlayer Center. The 28-game home schedule includes 12 Fridays, 11 Saturdays, two games on Sunday and Tuesday and one Monday game on December 31st. Game times will be announced at a later date.

Gwen Tombergs joins the Quad City Storm as the first female president in the 23 years of hockey in the Quad Cities and the entire Southern Professional Hockey League. A native of Eldridge, Iowa, Gwen brings a plethora of experience in marketing, sales, media relations and event operations. She has worked for the CBA's Quad City Thunder, the ECHL's Richmond Renegades and the MLB's New York Mets. Gwen is an avid volunteer and has been involved with numerous community nonprofit boards and committees. Her latest accomplishment was being project manager of the first Quad Cities Big Table. “This is exciting to be a part of a new start-up with owners who are passionate about keeping hockey in the Quad Cities,” said Tombergs. “Professional sports adds to the quality-of-life in a region and we are ready to join our other successful pro sports teams in bringing fun family entertainment to the Quad Cities.
