Weymouth’s Piacentini continuing pro hockey career in Alabama

By Mark Ducharme - [Weymouth, Mass.] wickedlocal.com

Tyler Piacentini wants to create more havoc on the ice.

Piacentini will return to the Huntsville Havoc, which are based in Alabama, for a second season in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

“I enjoyed it in Huntsville,” Piacentini said. “I did not know what to expect when I went down there. ... I showed up and learned that they do know their hockey.

“It was addictive to see 6,200 fans show up for every home game.”

Piacentini was a part of a Weymouth High program that drew good crowds during a run to the Super Eight in his senior season in 2011. Piacentini also concluded a great career at Norwich University where he was a captain as a senior and a major part of the team’s run to the Division 3 national championship in 2017.

The 5-4 Piacentini signed with the Havoc and played in 48 games with the team. He scored 14 goals and added 19 assists in his first season.

“We’re thrilled to have Ty back for his second season with us,” said Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo in a press release. “The energy and work ethic he brings is contagious. He will be a great example for our rookies on how they’re expected to compete every game.”
