Marksmen Have 14 Under Contract Thus Far

14 under contract to Marksmen thus far

It's a little more than six weeks away from the opening of the 2018-19 Southern Professional Hockey League season.

So far, new Fayetteville head coach Jesse Kallechy has signed 14 players, six of whom spent at least part of last season for the Marksmen, who finished in the cellar.

There's little question that the best player move the Marksmen made in the offseason was to re-sign captain and leading scorer Jake Hauswirth, a second-team All-SPHL player the past two seasons. Hauswirth played in all 56 regular-season games and scored 65 points (26 goals, 39 assists) — topping his prior high by 13 points.

The next wise move was to bring back the team's second-leading scorer, Jamie Hill. He came to Fayetteville early in the season in a trade with Mississippi and scored a total of 33 points on the season.

Others who are returning to the Marksmen include: defenseman and assistant captain Brad Campagna, who'll be back for a third season; left winger Darren McCormick, who had an ECHL call-up with Cincinnati; defenseman Carl Greco, a late-season collegiate signee; and Shane Bennett, who was trade last season to Mississippi but became a free agent after the RiverKings went under.

The newcomers include a pair of goalies in Dillon Kelley (16-2 in his years at NCAA Div. III power Adrian College) and Jason Pucciarelli (a first-team all-conference pick last season at D3 Salem State).

Pucciarelli's college teammate Michael Casale is among the newcomers, as are defensemen Felix Boucher, who spent the past two seasons in France, and Sean Kacerosky. David Mazurek, a center, played last season at Pensacola. Taylor Pryce saw time with Mississippi and Pensacola last season after a four-year collegiate stint at D3 Buffalo State. Forward Nolan Sheeran is another of the rookies, having spent the past four seasons playing at Canisius College.

Running out of spots for all of his quizzes.  Anyway, I guess you can't really tell if they are signed to a contract or to a training camp agreement.  Is everyone just signed to a training camp agreement before camp?  Or how does that work?

I would assume that only a handful that is signed under a contract with the rest for training camp. I'm hoping there will be more players signed after the ECHL has finalized roster spots.

Looks like McNeil is going back to Knoxville, and Drobot is going with.  Marksmen staff seem to be keeping quiet about it though.

If you check the "Player Signing" threads for both teams, you'll see that both McNeil and Drobot were updated the days they were announced.

Saw the thread title and thought the Marksmen were planning ahead for their coaching situation this year.
