GDT Roanoke @ Fayetteville 10/19/18 7:00 pm et

Recommended Posts

Its that time of season again.  We haven't had this much excitement about having a really good team yet, so far in Roanoke.  But this year feels different with Coach Bremner putting together what looks to be a solid roster up and down.  We possibly have the best lines of forwards in the league who have proven they can score in this league.  Like returners Steve Mele, Colin Murray, and Eric Witzel to go a long with our newcomers Dillan Fox, Cody Dion, Jeff Jones, and Michael Economos just to name a few.  We also should have no problem with our size and physicality we have seen in previous years.  No team pushing us around.  Only part of our team that is suspect on paper would be our young defense.  But after losing the experience of veterans Joe Sova, Nick Schneider, and skills of Cam Bakker who is playing in the ECHL for South Carolina its only fair to go through some growing pains with our young defense who returns Brian Rowland, Ben Bauer, and Patrick Harrison as the only returners from last year with any experience in the SPHL.  If our defense can hit the ground running, the sky is the limit for this team.  Especially with returning Goaltender of the Year Brad Barone and a solid back up in Division 1 UCONN recruit Tanner Creel who played one shutout period of hockey in our preseason game.  Overall I believe Coach Bremner has done an excellent job throwing together a roster of players he knows from his playing and coaching days.  They also know exactly what he expects from them.  Now onto the game.  It will be game 1 of 13 against Fayetteville.  1 of 6 away games we play there.  Fayetteville looks like a totally new team with new coach Jesse Kallechy and assistant Peter Worrell.  They are a very young team with a few familiar faces like Jake Hauswirth, Jamie Hill, and Travis Jeke to name a few. Should be a fun first game and test for our Dawgs on Friday Night before returning home Saturday Night for a 7:05 pm et home opener against the Knoxville Ice Bears.  Here is all the info you need to follow the away game in Fayetteville:

Well due to technical difficulties Fayetteville not showing the game.  What trash, every game you don't get to see is always in Fayetteville.  SPHL Live charges you an arm and a leg and can't even watch opening game.

You can listen to it on mixlr.  But no telecast to watch it.  Link is in the GDT if you need it.

Yup, Brian Rowland.  Wasn't expecting him to get first goal of the season.

Was really hoping to watch, but it is what it is.  Brian is doing a fantastic job as usual with the play by play.

Congrats to Rowland on his 1st professional goal!  Hoping we can come out fast and aggressive for the 2nd and 3rd periods.

FAY won 2-1. Good game by both teams......this came down to defenses and goalies.

P.S. Usually its KNX that is screwed up with Pointstreak.

That's funny, considering Pointstreak says the KNX game that ended a half hour ago still has 4:37 left in the 3rd.

I sent them an e-mail earlier today expressing my disappointment and just got a response that included a coupon code for a free future game of my choice.

Just FYI.

I did the same, they said their technical team would get back with us.  Not sure what game I'd use it on already having away package.  But atleast they did something.
