In describing center David Mazurek earlier in the week, Fayetteville Marksmen assistant coach Peter Worrell said this:

“He’s a meat-and-potatoes guy — but high-end meat and potatoes.”

And when the Marksmen needed just that kind of gritty work under pressure and in traffic, Mazurek delivered. He scored a game-winning, power-play goal with 3:36 left in the third period as Fayetteville beat Roanoke 2-1 in the first game of the Southern Professional Hockey League season Friday night.

Team looked good for the opening game, lots of hustle and no quit, dropped one in Macon, but they were competitive on the road. Hope people will support this team this year, I thought there would be more people in the seats but hopefully that will come, the new scorboard and ribbon lighting is impressive and really adds to the atmosphere It's a lot different at the Crown this year.
