Hill has signed to Diez Germany to play for the Rockets for the remainder for the 18-19 season.

Wonder why they didn't place him on team suspension then?  Now he can come back and play for anyone.  Unless, he decided to play over there after they cut him.

It was after being cut.

Yeah whole situation seems weird. Hill is a pretty good player, I wonder what was going on where no other SPHL team picked him up off waivers?

I'm guessing teams might have been interested but he already had other plans.  No use getting him off waiver wire and losing your spot in the rotation if he is never going to play for you.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The headline for the Marksmen early-on in their second season in the Southern Professional Hockey League has surrounded their mostly-rookie core group. While lead on the ice by veteran Jake Hauswirth, many of the returning guys for the Marksmen have only played a couple seasons tops.

That narrative changes a bit today, as the team officially announces the signing of six-year professional hockey player Zach Tatrn.

Tatrn, a 6’2 205 pound forward from Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania most recently played with Roanoke, and faced Fayetteville during this season’s exhibition game.

Playing two seasons with the Rail Yard Dawgs, Tatrn found his way to 40 points (18G+22A) in 68 games played. He started with the Dawgs after winning the Commissioner’s Cup with the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Hockey League, being called up in the 2016-2017 season.

After starting his professional hockey career with the Knoxville Ice Bears in the 2012-2013 season following five seasons of high-level Junior Hockey (four years OHL, one year USHL / NAHL).

Following that season in Knoxville, Tatrn would spend his next three seasons in the FHL, splitting time with the Steel City Warriors, Danbury Titans, and Prowlers. Tatrn was a standout in the FHL, accumulating 96 points (33G+63A) in 101 games played.

Now Tatrn looks to call the Rail Yard Dawgs’ rival, Fayetteville, home. Tatrn, making the trip to the All-American City earlier, finds himself heading to the Midwest for a pivotal weekend for the Marksmen to have a measuring stick.

An opportunity that Tatrn is heavily looking forward to – finding his fit.

“I’m excited to be a part of the team. Adter talking with Coach Kallechy, I feel like it’s a good fit and he likes the way I play the game,” said Tatrn “It means a lot that he feels I can create on offense, be defensively responsible, and bring veteran leadership to a younger team”

Tatrn will have a short-time to learn the Marksmen’s systems, but his knowledge and experience in this league will be a big addition for the young roster.

We welcome Zach Tatrn to the Marksmen, and excitedly await his impact.

MARKSMEN ACQUIRE TWO IN TRADE WITH FLYERS

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen and Pensacola Ice Flyers officially came to terms on a trade agreement this weekend, looking to bolster the core of each team with young blood.

Defensemen Alfred Johansson and Forward Brian Bowen make their way to the Marksmen, and the Ice Flyers will receive Defensemen Carl Greco, and Future Considerations.

Greco played nine games for the Marksmen last year, with this season being his first full one. He finishes his Marksmen career with 11 points (2G+9A).

The Marksmen in return will welcome aboard a pair of young, promising players from the Ice Flyers.

25-year-old Swedish Defensemen Alfred Johansson is in his first professional season, after four years in NCAA D3, three with powerhouse St. Norbert. The defensemen put up 26 points in 107 games played in his collegiate career. Johansson came to the States in the 2012-2013 season, playing in the NSHL and the NAHL for a season each. At 6’1, 205 pounds, the lefty Johansson looks promising as a big, blue line presence, and filling a much needed spot for the Marksmen. He has appeared in 12 games thus far in his first professional season. He will wear the #5 for the Marksmen.

23-year-old American Forward Brian Bowen has seen success at high-levels in his young career. After lighting up the USPHL Premier with the Boston Jr. Bruins with 50 points in 47 games, Bowen earned USPHL Rookie of the Year, and leading Goal-Scorer honors. Bowen immediately jumped from Tier III up to Tier I into the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers and Dubuque Fighting Saints. In his lone USHL season, Bowen found his way to 42 points (16G+26A) in 46 games played. With this impressive junior scoring career, Bowen would spend the next three seasons with Vermont (NCAA D1) with 39 points (17G+22A) in 61 games played. Following the end of the 2017-2018 season, he would find his way to the Worcester Railers (ECHL) and put up four points (1G+3A) in 11 games played – the exact same numbers he has through his first 11 this season in the SPHL. He will wear the #12 for the Marksmen.

We are excited to welcome Alfred and Brian to the Marksmen family, and wish success to Carl down in Pensacola.

Our pair from Pensacola should be in Fayetteville before this weekend’s games against the Peoria Rivermen, so come on out and cheer our new guys on.

Hey gang. On the latest trade I got a call from Jess to see if I approved. Did you guys get a call, too?  I told him the guy with 12 gp and no points might be a reach but I gave the go ahead 'cause of Bowen.  I tried to get Pensy to throw in Billett or DAgostini but no go.
