ROA vs. FAY Rivalry

Recommended Posts

In the latest episode of the "Inside the SPHL" podcast from The Sin Bin, they suggested some names for the various rivalries throughout the league. For the Roanoke/Fayetteville series they suggested "The South's Coldest Rivalry" playing off of the UVA vs UNC rivalry. I don't hate the name but I feel like we can do better! It would be cool to come up with something that wasn't a play off of an existing rivalry.

I heard that the Quad City and Peoria series has been dubbed "The Cold War on 74".

Best part of the rivalry discussion was when Harding stated the Mason-Dixon line ran between VA and NC...uh...

Do need a better name, though. The "Cold War on 74" is official, as I saw QC promoting it as such on social media.

I talked to a guy who runs the Return Hockey to Richmond Facebook page opening night. He also covers their Junior Team the Generals. He was telling me they are going to build a 5,000 seat arena out next to Richmond Raceway and should have a team in 2 years and it will be an SPHL team.
