Quote

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (October 30, 2018) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Darren McCormick of the Fayetteville Marksmen is the Warrior Player of the Week for October 22-28.

McCormick recorded the second hat trick of his professional career, leading the Marksmen to an 8-5 win over Roanoke in the team’s only game last week.

On Friday, the Buffalo, NY native scored the game-tying goal in the second period and added two more tallies in the third, including the eventual game-winner, as Fayetteville rallied from a 4-2 deficit to defeat the Rail Yard Dawgs 8-5.

Prior to turning pro, McCormick played three years at SUNY-Cortland where he recorded 43 goals and 50 assists in 75 career games for the Red Dragons. Last year, McCormick was named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey all-conference third team after leading the Red Dragons in goals and points as a junior.
