Marksmen blow 3 goal lead - lose in OT

Recommended Posts

Had a 3 goal lead, comfortable for most team but not for us, gave up 2 to Peoria in just 34 seconds at the end of the second period, took another lead that did not last long, fell behind than tied it up near the end. Took a penalty in OT and yes hockey fans we lost again, so we gained a point, not a big deal when you let what should be a sure win just slip away, it really seems like last year, the team is getting almost identical results as last years team and that is just no good. It's early I know but if changes are needed I hope they don't wait too long like they did last year.

So was "Continuing Altercation" assessed for Kallechy throwing PEORIA'S equipment, too?

ETA: According to the PJStar game recap ...

Quote

As the Rivermen celebrated, Fayetteville head coach Jesse Kallechy was assessed a penalty for throwing water bottles onto the ice at officials, and slapped with a game misconduct for verbal abuse.

So I guess asking for his water bottles back was "verbal abuse."  :hmm:

Fayetteville gets a nice 3-0 lead on a sluggish Peoria team...then close to the end of the 2nd period, Peoria woke up. Mazurek doing well. Jeke much more physical than last year. Hauswirth not playing as he usually does. Doesn't seem too happy right now.

It isn't a good sign when you score five goals and still lose. Fourth loss in a row. Expecting Kallechy to get suspended for tomorrow's game. At least Worrell is there just in case.

I expect another loss tomorrow, maybe some changes after that will help, I sure hope so, can't accept another disaster like last year. Coach must have exploded over the penalty call in OT that resulted in the game winning goal

Yep, I have heard from some we are a young team, true, but all the teams are young, a team can carry only 3 vets. Or we lost to the top 2 teams, why can't we be a top level team. A lesson should have been learned after the disaster last year.

We heard the same thing last season with having a young team and a new head coach in his first season as a head coach.  Here we are in the same situation with nearly identical results.  Once you fall behind in the SPHL, it's hard to catch back up.  Maybe if Kallechy does get suspended for tomorrow night's game, it could be a blessing in disguise because he can watch the game from the stands while Worrell is coaching and see stuff he otherwise wouldn't have from behind the bench.

Rivermen are going to be wearing the same American flag jerseys on Saturday that the Marksmen wore last Saturday at home. Very confusing on the ice if Fayetteville is wearing the white away jerseys they wore last night. Why did OT Sports do the same design for two different teams?

OT sports should not have sold those jerseys to another team in the same league. This was realized and discussed weeks ago but all jerseys had been ordered.

Seems to be enough red and blue (and even just a smidge of yellow) in the Rivermen jerseys to avoid confusion:
