Defensive failures lead Marksmen to 7-2 loss


FAYETTEVILLE, NC – After last night’s disappointing 5-4 overtime loss in Knoxville, the Marksmen welcomed the Ice Bears to the Crown for a rematch. With the series tied 1-1, the Marksmen needed a boost of confidence to end the weekend.

Fayetteville started the first period with a bang as Derek Brown scored with some help of Zach Tatrn, just 2:03 in. The Marksmen may have taken that early goal for granted as the rest of the period wasn’t one to remember. Both Gehrett Sargis and Bryce Nielsen scored for the Ice Bears shortly after one another, putting the Ice Bears up one into the locker room.
