Rivermen welcome back old friend Eric Levine

The Peoria Rivermen are bringing back one of the most popular players in their history.

Veteran goaltender Eric Levine has agreed to return to the SPHL powerhouse team in a bid to chase a championship.

Levine signed on Wednesday and delivered a promise to the Rivermen he would be here for the duration of the 2019-20 season.

The nomadic goaltender has had 11 call-ups to the ECHL and AHL and played for 15 teams in his six-year pro career...........

Fan-favorite returns to Peoria for 7th pro season

 

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Rivermen announced today that the team has signed goaltender Eric Levine to a Professional Tryout Agreement for this October’s training camp. Levine returns to Peoria for his fourth stint with the Rivermen after beginning last season with the SPHL’s Quad City Storm, finishing the year on the roster of the (ECHL) Kelly Cup champion Newfoundland Growlers.......

Big Cody Dion comes home, plus big trade

Cody Dion’s career was rescued by the Peoria Rivermen after he’d been released by another team in the 2015-16 season and was working as a cook at a barbecue restaurant.

Now he’s bringing some sizzle back to the Rivermen lineup for the 2019-20 SPHL season.........

Cleve In The Eve: Rivermen bring back Big Ben

Ben Oskroba said last spring he’d be back for one more try at a championship run with the Peoria Rivermen.

He made good on Saturday, signing for his seventh season with the four-time league points title champion Peoria franchise.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound defenseman -- whose 29th birthday is Sunday -- is a charter member of Peoria’s SPHL team.......

Cleve In The Eve: Rivermen captain Hagaman signs for 'One more chance

 

One more try.

Alec Hagaman, the only Peoria-born captain of the Peoria Rivermen in the franchise's 39-year history, is returning for one more try at a championship.

Hagaman signed with the Rivermen on Wednesday for the 2019-20 Southern Professional Hockey League season.

"You never say never, but my heart says this will be the last chance for me, my final season," said Hagaman, who turns 30 in December. "I don't know what the next chapter holds for me. But absolutely, if I can help this team win a championship, finally reach that last step, it will be the perfect way to end my career and for me to walk away...........

Cleve In The Eve: Rivermen make major trade with Fayetteville

 

PEORIA — The Peoria Rivermen cashed in some of their assets left over from the 2018-19 season on Friday in a major trade with the Fayetteville Marksmen.

The five-player deal saw the Rivermen send two of the league's elite players from last season -- winger Joe Kalisz and center Will Smith -- to Fayetteville..........

RIVER READINGS: The Rivermen have brought in a new equipment manager, Kam Herges, 24. He is a Mahomet native who served as EQ manager for USHL Bloomington last season. ... The Rivermen have brought back two more players from last season, signing Peoria native and tough winger Mitchell McPherson and winger Drake Hunter. The latter played 30 games as a reserve forward for Peoria last season and improved steadily. McPherson is the son of former Rivermen enforcer Darwin McPherson, and played 10 games here at the end of last season after his college career finished.

Cleve In The Eve: Rivermen heavyweight Jake Hamilton returns amid trio of signings

Jake Hamilton started out as an enforcer for the Peoria Rivermen and developed into an all-around defenseman as a rookie last season.

Now he's a Rivermen returnee.

The Rivermen re-signed Hamilton on Monday, and also signed big center Trent Durocher and 31-year-old forward project David Nippard.

"Jake Hamilton was the most improved player on our team last season," Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel said. "He emerged later in the season and embraced our system and became a key part of our defense unit.......

Cleve In The Eve: Rivermen sign Walker, could have brothers on team

 

The Peoria Rivermen brought back an emerging forward Friday and brought in another player that could give the franchise its first brothers tandem on the roster in 25 years.

Beau Walker is back, and Casey Dion has joined the fold as both were signed by Peoria.

Walker broke out last season after his release by Evansville, joining the Rivermen for 34 games, during which he notched 14 goals with 17 assists and a 20 rating to finish fifth in scoring on a 40-7-9 team.......
