Pensacola, Fla. (June 11, 2019) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers announced today the team’s 2019 Main Camp invitee from the 2019 Free Agent Camp.

This year, the free agent camp took place in Chicago, Ill. at the Triphahn Ice Arena at Hoffman Estates Park District. Over the course of three days, 27 players competed in four practice scrimmages for the same goal: to be invited to the main camp in October at the Pensacola Bay Center.....

Pensacola, Fla. (July 17, 2019) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers announced today the return of Forward Garrett Milan for the 2019-20 season.

Originally hailing from Whistler, B.C., the 5’8” 175-lb. Milan played in 17 games for the Ice Flyers during the 2018-19 season, during which he netted nine goals and added 13 assists for a total of 22 points. Milan started last season in Europe before returning to the Ice Flyers. He was also called up to the ECHL Greenville Swamp Rabbits from December 31 to February 14. In his first season with the Ice Flyers in 2017-18, he led the team in assists and points when he tallied 14 goals, 51 assists for 65 points in 55 games. His assist total led the SPHL and he was tied for third in league scoring. Milan was also named to the SPHL Second All-Star Team. This year will mark Milan’s third season as a forward with the Ice Flyers, and his fifth professional season overall.

Pensacola, Fla. (July 24, 2019) – Today the Pensacola Ice Flyers announced the return of Forward Brett D’Andrea for the 2019-20 season.
 
Joining the Ice Flyers immediately out of his four-year NCAA Division I tenure, D’Andrea led the Ice Flyers in +/- scoring throughout the 2018-19 season holding +12. D’Andrea also totaled 25 points in the past season with nine goals and 16 assists........

Jesse Kessler joined the Ice Flyers immediately following his four-year NCAA Division III tenure at Hamline University. Throughout the 2018-19 season, Kessler led the Ice Flyers in assists, totaling 20, while adding two goals for 22 points in 56 games.....

Last season, Young played in the French2 league with the Diables Rogues de Briancon where he amassed 21 points built by netting ten goals and 11 assists...........

Ice Flyers Sign Florida Native Drapluk for 2019-20 Season

 

Pensacola, Fla. (August 13, 2019) – Today the Pensacola Ice Flyers announced the return of Forward Joseph Drapluk for the 2019-20 season.
 
A Florida native, Drapluk joined the professional hockey ranks with the Ice Flyers during the 2018-19 season after finishing his senior year at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. This year will mark Drapluk’s first full professional season.
 
During his collegiate career in the NCAA Division III, Drapluk scored a total of 27 goals and added 23 assists amassing 50 points. Throughout his 13 games with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, three of those in the SPHL Playoffs, Drapluk had 13 points comprised of eight goals and five assists.........

Ice Flyers Trade for Defenseman Bakker from Roanoke

Pensacola, Fla. (August 19, 2019) – The Ice Flyers have announced a trade with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs. The Ice Flyers acquire the playing rights of defenseman Cameron Bakker and future considerations for the playing rights of forward Brantley Sherwood.

The 2019-20 season will mark Bakker’s third year playing professional hockey. Starting his professional career in 2017-18 with the Cornwall Nationals of the Federal Hockey League where he totaled 18 points built up of three goals and 15 assists throughout a total of 20 games. Halfway through the 2017-18 season, Bakker joined the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs where he played 26 games amassing 13 points comprised of one goal and 12 assists. In 2018-19 Bakker was called up to the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays on November 6, 2018 where he played 42 games and collected 11 assists and one goal totaling 12 points. He returned mid-March and helped the Dawgs advance to the SPHL semi-final while putting up seven points in five games........

Ice Flyers Sign Veteran Cescon for 2019-20 Season

Pensacola, Fla. (August 22, 2019) – Today the Pensacola Ice Flyers announced that Head Coach Rod Aldoff has signed veteran defenseman, Craig Cescon, for the 2019-20 season.

Cescon is 6’2”, 209-lb defenseman and is a native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He has played 12 years of professional hockey, spending his first five seasons in North America with teams such as the Fort Wayne Komets and the Idaho Steelheads before going overseas to play for teams including the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the UK and Morzine-Avoriaz-Les Gets of the top pro league in France. Cescon has played in 606 games scoring 24 goals and adding 87 assists totaling 111 points as well as amassing 1,656 penalty minutes.........

Rookie Defensemen Frantti, Froese Join the Ice Flyers for 2019-20

Pensacola, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2019) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers have announced the addition of two rookie defensemen with the signing of Connor Frantti and Kyle Froese.

Frantti is a 6-foot-6-inch, 203-pound defenseman entering his first professional season and is a native of Spring Grove, Ill. He enters the pro ranks coming out of NCAA Division I with Northern Michigan University. Frantti played in 112 games throughout his college career, adding nine points and 108 penalty minutes. Prior to attending Northern Michigan, he was the captain of the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL). In his two seasons with the Stars, he played 106 games, tallied 11 points and put up 274 penalty minutes.

“Connor is a great person and is a strong, all-around defenseman. He had a solid college career at Northern Michigan, and was highly respected by his teammates and coaches,” Head Coach Rod Aldoff stated. “He is big and strong, and uses his size well, especially in the defensive zone. Our fans will enjoy his style of play.”..........

Matsushima Signs Back With the Ice Flyers

Pensacola, Fla. (Sept. 5, 2019) – Ice Flyers Head Coach Rod Aldoff announced today the signing of forward Eddie Matsushima for the upcoming season.

Matsushima joined the Ice Flyers after completing his senior season at NCAA Division III University of Wisconsin – River Falls. In his final season as a Falcon, he scored 14 goals and added 17 assists for 31 points and 57 penalty minutes in 28 games. He finished his college career playing in 109 games and racking up 84 points and 120 penalty minutes.........

Rookie Forwards Ederer, Powlowski Added to the Ice Flyers

Pensacola, Fla. (Sept. 10, 2019) – The Pensacola Ice Flyers have added two rookie forwards to the 2019-20 season with the signing of Michael Ederer and David Powlowski.

Ederer is a 23-year-old forward out of Lancaster, NY. The 5-foot-11-inch, 181-pound rookie is coming out of NCAA Division I college hockey with St. Lawrence University. In 103 games throughout his collegiate career, he scored 18 goals, added 22 assists for 40 points. His last two seasons of junior hockey was split between OJHL’s Buffalo Jr. Sabres and the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials. In 108 games, Ederer tallied 51 goals and 51 assists for 102 points........
