The city of Knoxville has switched up its traditional holiday plans this year to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 during downtown festivities.

The Holidays on Ice skating rink will open Dec. 11, but this year it will move from Market Square to inside the Civic Coliseum, where the Knoxville Ice Bears play hockey.

The larger rink enables skaters to remain socially distanced on the ice. Holidays on Ice will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday with extended hours during Knox County Schools’ winter break.

The full schedule will be posted at KnoxvillesHolidaysOnIce.com.
